My biggest name dropping opportunity to date was playing the Assistant to the Coroner at the first inquest into the death of Azaria Chamberlain in the Movie Evil Angels (released in the US as A Cry in the Dark). Not only did I get to question Lindy (Meryl Streep), but that scene was used when Meryl was nominated for an Oscar - which means that I've been on the Academy Awards. Not quite as much press coverage for me as Geoffrey Rush though.
Most recent feature film work was on The Wogboy (1999) with Nick Giannopolous and Siam Sunset (1998) with Linus Roach. Also in that year I was lucky enough to return to Japan with work in a movie called Pride (Unmei No Toki in Japanese). Last feature before that was River Street with Aden Young and Bill Hunter.
Touring with a stage show for six months in 2000 meant that other work was limited to a guest spot on Stingers, the other local TV cop show, and a spot on Shock Jock (Pay TV) sporting a bad wig as a country disc jockey
A broken leg in 1999 didn't deter television production companies from using me in High Flyers and Blue Heelers. Other recent television work was on State Coroner as the Police Commissioner, and Good Guys, Bad Guys as Crazy Ray Fox and previous to that Halifax f.p. and what is turning out to be an annual event as featured guest on Blue Heelers (once a year for the last six years), one episode of which was seen in Cordoba, Argentina by a wandering friend.
Other international sightings include a XXXX beer commercial shot for English television, NBC Movie of the Week The Flood, and a role in Time Trax, the last two being shot on the Gold Coast, Queensland for US release.
Earlier work include two series of the ABC cult comedy series (meaning unadvertised but well received anyway) The Fast Lane as Detective Sergeant Blair, and guest roles in other shows such as Neighbours, Flying Doctors, Boys from the Bush and Embassy to mention a few .
For the some years now voiceovers for radio and television (including stints as the voice of Telstra, KMart, and AAMI) have been a major part of my income and other voice work includes approximately fifty audio books for the Braille and Talking Book Library over about ten years (including two awards for Narrator of the Year), and most recently the voice of the dragon "Mizuchi" in the children's telemovie The Balanced Particle Freeway which has been sold to the BBC and, less interestingly, German television. Well, they'll have to dub it won't they?
Having been discovered as an actor prepared to work cheap to help out students, I've done half a dozen films for student directors over recent years.
